I have a Sega Genesis in my room. I have some games on the Genesis like Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Battletoads, Disney's Aladdin and more. Sonic 2 is the only Sonic game that I had. I didn't have the first Sonic game on the Genesis. So I decided to search for Sonic 1 on eBay. Then I found a copy of it for $4.69, so naturally I bought it since it was so cheap.

So it came 6 days later in the mail and, as you'd think, there would have been no game case or label and it was just "SONIC 1" written in red marker. But, actually, it looked just fine. The sticker looked off a bit somehow, but I'm not sure how. I went up to my room and put the game into the Sega Genesis. However, something was off.

Creepy Sonic 1 Title Screen

The creepy title screen.

The title screen was very disturbing. The sky was bloody red. Sonic had empty eye sockets and a bleeding mouth. The title screen was playing in reverse. The copyright "(C) SEGA 1991" is now "(C) SEGA 666" It reminds me of the Sonic.exe creepypasta. I was a little scared, and I thought it was just a hack. Then it showed the typical level title thing, instead of saying "Green Hill Zone Act 1", it said, well, nothing.

The game started me off at Green Hill Zone. Something isn't right though. The sky was blood red (just like in the title screen), there were no rings or enemies. There was also no HUD. Screams could be heard, and Sonic was all black and he had glowing red eyes. I made it to the end of the level and There was black on all pictures of the signpost. I was taken to a different level with the level title now saying "HELP ACT 1". When Sonic spawned, everything was black, rings, enemies, HUD, items, everything. All you could see is Sonic and the outlines of everything.

The static was getting louder and sound effects could be heard. The screen began flashing and Sonic became pixelated and more static sounds were coming through. The static was getting louder. This was straight from a horror film. The screen turned black. It stayed there for another 10 seconds, this time the level said "YOUR FAULT ACT 1". I was really freaked out by now, I couldn't really tell if this was a glitch, or a hack, or some kind of sick twisted joke... or anything really. But despite my fear of what happened next, I kept playing.

The game cut off to Sonic in a dark, haunted asylum. I could hear faint chainsaw sounds in the background. At this point, I'm confused and terrified. Every time I tried to leave, Sonic would die. I couldn't go anywhere. Frustrated, I turned off the game and went to sleep.

I couldn't sleep. I had nightmares about this game. This could be telling me something that I need to find out in the game so I turned on the Sega Genesis and began playing. I wish I hadn't.

The level title appeared again and this time it said "GATES OF HELL ACT 666", which I found really freaky. The game cuts off to Sonic in hell. There was fire in the background. I started to run around hell. Then there was a door at the end, stupid as I am, I went through it, I wish I did not do that.

The game flashes of images of creepypastas like Slenderman, Jeff the Killer, Smile Dog, Squidward's Suicide, Red Mist, Suicidemouse.avi, The Rake, Lost Sliver, Happy Appy, Sonic.exe, Tails Doll, BEN Drowned, Dead Bart and more. Screaming could be heard. I screamed and tried to turn the TV off. It wouldn't turn off. The screen cuts to Sonic hanging above the ceiling. A noose wrap around his neck as he dangled while blood dripped from slits all over his face and onto the floor.

The screen cut black and Sonic began to scream and gruesome sound effects were heard. Then it showed a text that shocked the hell out of me. In tiny bloody text, it said: "I had fun playing with you." Then the Sega Genesis turned off by itself. I jumped. I took the game out and smashed it with a hammer. I hope I never have to experience something like that ever again.
